Man Impersonates Lagos Deputy Governor, Scams Victim of N1 Million

Policemen in Lagos have arrested one 45-year-old Adamu Aminu, who was accused of impersonationg the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Idiat Adebule on Facebook, before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Adamu who fraudulently obtained the sum of N1m from one Mr. Bright Obed on the pretext of soliciting funds for an orphanage in Agege, allegedly set up by the deputy governor, is facing a four-count of impersonation, conspiracy, false pretense and fraud.

The suspect who reportedly committed the offences in Agege area of Lagos sometime in August, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Adamu was accused of using the Facebook account to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public,  impersonating the deputy governor by calling and sending SMS on a mobile number, 09064583091, before he was tracked down by the Police,

He was however granted bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, by Chief Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja.
