The Premier League season has entered its busiest period with the festive fixtures underway and its time to take a look back at which player has performed awesomely well for his club in the year 2017.
While Manchester City is currently blowing everyone away in the league, we can be forgiven if we pick 10 out of 11 of their players to make up the team of the year but there are other standout performers from other teams who deserves acknowledgement.
Here is my own team of the year based on performance;
I don’t think anyone watching the EPL would think twice about this one. Manchester united stopper David De Gea tops the list with his all year outstanding performances especially a record equaling performance against Arsenal making 14 saves.
Other stand out performers include Burnley stopper Nick Pope who came in for the injured Tom Heaton, Ederson of Manchester city.
There are loads of defenders making the wave in the EPL at the moment with brilliant performances with the likes of Liverpool’s Joe Gomez coming into the lime light, Ben Davies, Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones doing well for Manchester city at the back.
Even with Chelsea inconsistency so far this season, they have defenders doing reasonable well with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and even the young Andreas Christensen making the headlines while Manchester united injury worries have kept out the likes Eric Bailly and Phil Jones.
Kyle Walker has been arguably the best right back in England for the past two season and the fact remains the same given Manchester City brilliant form and Burnley’s defender James Tarkowski been in a defence that has kept 9 clean sheets second in the league.
Manchester city duos Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are front runner for the best player award with Mohammed Salah giving them a run for their money.
The current PFA player of the year Ngolo Kante remains in the mix after a fruitful 2017 with Chelsea crumbling in his absence due to injury and EPL most consistent player in the PFA team of the year since 2013 in Eden Hazard also still making wave.
Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling are in blistering form at the moment and it would be hard to overlook them but the performances is for 2017 and not just the current season.
Most Manchester united fans are not entirely impressed with Lukaku but he keeps proving critics wrong scoring 10 goals already this season and Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata showing he might just be worth is record money move.
Jesus Gabriel and Aguero have been rotated this season but the both have gave great performance whenever they have been called upon scoring 8 and 10 goals respectively. Lacazette is also showing good signs in the Arsenal shirt.
The most stand out striker for 2017 remains the one and only Harry Kane scoring 50 goals so far contesting with the likes Ronaldo and Messi for the highest goal scorer award for 2017.
HERE IS A BREAK DOWN OF THE ELEVEN
