Buhari’s Govt, Dawn Of A New Era – Maitama Sule 1
Elder statesman, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, has asked Nigerians to feel free to advise and criticise the Buhari administration in a responsible and constructive manner.
Sule, who visited Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) in his office yesterday, told State House correspondents that the administration is a “dawn of a new era”, and expressed optimism that the government will deliver on its promises.
“I call upon Nigerians to give them (President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo) their support, honest and sincere support.
“Tell them if they do wrong or if they go wrong, support them if they do the right thing, but do it in a responsible and constructive manner.
“That we shall do for we have confidence in them. We don’t want them to fail and by the grace of God they will not fail,” he said.
Sule noted that the country was beset by two broad problems of insecurity at home and bad image abroad.
“It is when you have good leaders that we will be able to bring to an end the insecurity we have in the country and the bad image we have abroad. Leaders with integrity are the ones that can bring about change and we have in these two men of integrity and I am confident that things should be what they should be, Sule said.”
He noted with satisfaction that already, the “international community is giving Nigeria good respect.
“And I think the President has established that reputation as a military leader, a reputation of instilling discipline into the society, raising the current tone of the society and fighting corruption”, he said.
Sule recalled that at the time Buhari was a military leader, he gave Nigeria a sense of direction, adding that he saw in the President and his vice a team that would repeat the feat.
