Angry Drivers Strip D.P.O Naked

The Divisional Police Officer of the Aramoko Ekiti division, Mr. Anthony Okpaleye was disgraced publicly after he was stripped naked by angry bus drivers over the death of their colleague, Toyin Philips.

Reports claim the slain driver, Omolafe Aderiye was gunned down by suspected men of the underworld while travelling to Lagos from Ekiti on Saturday September 25th, 2015.
According to reports, the fact that the late driver was shot a few metres away from a police check point angered the drivers who wondered why the police was unable to foil the attack.

“The protesting drivers said the police did not respond swiftly. They stripped the DPO naked and destroyed two police vans.” An eyewitness said.

The state government later called for a meeting chaired by deputy governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola which was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Etop James; Director of the Department of State Services, Mr. Duke Fubara, NURTW members, and other security agencies’ heads.

And rising from the meeting, the deputy governor assured that more patrol teams would be deployed in the Aramoko-Ijero and Aramoko-Igede areas.
“The police will also investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to book. Our government is concerned because when a life is lost, it gives the impression that Ekiti is not safe,” he said
