“President Buhari Under Pressure To Stop Ongoing War Against Corruption” – V.P Osinabjo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has stated that the President Buhari administration is currently under intense pressure from the elite to stop the ongoing fight against corruption.
The revelation, which was brought to light in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, on Thursday, February 4, did not however indicate the names of the Nigerian aristocrats who are behind the campaign.
The statement, which was made while granting audience to a delegation from the Muslim Congress of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, quoted the vice president as saying that pressure from some Nigerian elites to slow down the ongoing fight against corruption would not deter the Buhari presidency from ridding the country of the problem of corruption.
The VP said in this words:
“We get regular messages from some Nigerian elite saying ‘cool down.’
“It is a very strange morality that some of those people have, (which is) very complicated, and cutting across all tribes and religious differences.”
