Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2018: 7 Things You Need To Know As #RunLagos Begins Tomorrow
With all now set for the 2018 edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 10, we present to you some of the things you need to know while you prepare to #RunLagos.
Recall, We previously reported that the management of the marathon announced that thefirst Nigerian to emerge winner will get a whooping sum of N3million.
The General Manager of the marathon, Mr Yusuf Alli, had made this known on Wednesday, January 31, during an exclusive chat with Daily Trust.

Meanwhile, here are seven things you may not know about the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2018:
- The Lagos marathon is now certified as a Bronze Medal marathon, with its routes officially measured, and with a goal to achieve Gold label within the next two editions.
- The #AccessBankLagosCityMarathon is only of the 88 certified marathons out of the over 500 in the world.
- Over 50,000 athletes participated in 2017, about 100,000 participants (both elite, indigent and non-elite) are expected for the 2018 edition.
- For its Bronze Medal status, athletes who qualify and participate in the 2018 #AccessBankLagosCityMarathon are automatically recognized and eligible for the Commonwealth Games.
- The prize money for indigent winners has been increased to 3 Million Naira across all categories.
- A 10km #FamilyFunRace (for non-professional runners or elite athletes) has been included to encourage participation from indigent (Nigerians) who run for fitness, fun and health purposes.
- Winners of the 10km #FamilyFunRace will get brand new cars from GAC Motor.
As part of efforts to ensure a hitch-free Marathon, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced traffic diversion on the affected routes during the race.
