Arsenal’s Title Hope Is Gone – Petr Cech
The veteran goalkeeper admits that a 3-1 lose at anfield to Liverpool has left Arsenal with too much ground to cover in their chase for the EPL title.
Petr Cech admits that a costly defeat at Liverpool has left Arsenal “too far away” to force themselves into the Premier League title picture.
The Gunners headed to Anfield believing a victory would keep their faint title hopes alive, but a 3-1 reversal on Merseyside has them 13 points off the pace in fifth with Chelsea yet to play.
Cech concedes that the gap to table-topping Chelsea is now too great, with Arsene Wenger’s side needing to switch their focus to the securing of a top-four finish.
He told the Arsenal’s official website:
“With the three points we would have still been in the chase for the title, but now I think we are too far away.
“I don’t think Chelsea will lose so many points, so now we need to concentrate on finishing as high as possible and qualifying for the Champions League.”
