theINFOnerds FPL Scout: 10 Unpopular Players You Need to Have in Your Team For the 2019/2020 Season
by CLEMENT SISCOT
The Fantasy Premier League is here Again!!!
When it comes to the Fantasy Premier League, household names like Salah, Sterling, Aguero and Kane come to mind but with the budget available, they can’t all be acquired at once. The next question managers asked themselves are who do i get that would be relatively cheap and is likely to give me steady game week points.
It is a question that gives many managers headache and theINFOnerds scout is here to proffer you a solution and a medicine to that headache. Without exceeding the given budget, here is a list of relatively cheap players with the likeliness of giving a huge performance this coming season.
1. LENO (£5.0) GK
This will probably come as a surprise to most managers because he is an Arsenal player and Arsenal as a team have leaky defense but what most of you don’t know is that after Aubameyang and Lacazette, Leno is the only Arsenal player to score over 100 points in his debut season and not forgetting the fact he started the season behind Petr Cech and only came into the fold later in the season. This season, he is the undisputed no.1 and expect a even better performance from him given the better understanding that would have been created between him and his defenders.
2. EL MOHAMADY (£4.5) DF
El Mohamady is back in the EPL after previous stint with Hull City and many would remember him for his exploits going forward as he showed in the just concluded AFCON 2019 where he scored and created numerous chances. The Aston Villa right full back should be a good acquisition at that cheap price.
3. RITCHIE (£5.5) DF
This is one almost every manager should jump on. Aside from the fact he is on set piece duties, Ritchie has been entered as a defender this season because of the way he finished last season under Rafa Benitez but could now return to his normal position which is further up the pitch now that Steve Bruce is manager and in turn should give higher points for goal scored as a defender than a midfielder would normally give.
4. COLEMAN (£5.5) DF
Digne definitely took the spotlight off Coleman last season so everyone can be forgiven if they don’t remember the Irish man. Same as Digne, Coleman loves getting forward at every given opportunity and contributes goals and assists when necessary. At £5.5 he is a cheaper option to his counterpart.
5. VALERY (£5.0) DF
Probably still unknown to most managers but the Southampton man came into the fold late last season scoring in back to back games against Manchester United and Tottenham. He continued his scoring in pre season after finding the net against Guangzhou R&F. The way Ralph Hasenhuttl sets his team up should make Valery a very reasonable addition.
6. CHAMBERLAIN (£6.0) MF
Jurgen Klopp referred to him as a new signing and before his long injury layoff, the England international was very instrumental for the Reds. With the injury to Naby Kieta, expect Chamberlain to be the most advance of Liverpool midfield as he causes the opposition defenses all sorts of problem with his direct running. At £6.0 he is quite affordable and will be overlooked by most managers.
7. CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI (£6.0) MF
The Chelsea youngster is highly rated among Chelsea fans and is being expected to step into the big shoe of former talisman Eden Hazard. Currently on injury, CHO is expected back early September and he is one to keep on top of your watch-list as he contributed 5 goals and 5 assists for Chelsea in all competition last season spending less time on the pitch.
8. LUCAS MOURA (£7.5) MF
He finished last season on a personal high note scoring hat tricks against Huddersfield and Ajax and has now started pre-season like a house on fire scoring in back to back games against Juventus and Manchester United. With Son expected to be back August 25th due to suspension from last season, Moura is expected to lead the line along side Kane.
9. BILLY SHARP (£6.0) FW
Like Aston Villa and Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday is also unknown entity which makes their talisman relatively unknown to FPL managers. Billy Sharp contributed 23 goals and 4 assists as his team won promotion back to the English Premier League and has continued his scoring form in pre season scoring twice against Chesterfield. The 33 year old is also on penalty duties.
10. JAMIE VARDY (£9.0) FW
Bulk of the manager is most likely going for top guns like Aguero, Kane, Aubameyang while overlooking the former England international. Vardy behind Aguero has scored the most goals against the top 6 sides so the quality of opponent isn’t really a problem to him. With the kind of transfer they have done and completing a full pre season under Rodgers, expect Leicester City and Vardy to start the season buzzing.
In addition, here are not so popular players you should keep on your watch list or maybe opt to buy
- Bernard Everton
- Alexis Sanchez Manchester United
- Dele Alli Tottenham
- Zichenko Manchester City
- Ashley Barnes Burnley
- Andriy Yarmolenko Westham
- Teemu Pukki Norwich
- Tammy Abraham Chelsea
- Gibbs White Wolves
- Joel Ward Crystal Palace
- Tom Heaton Burnley
- Matt Targett Aston Villa
- Mesut Ozil Arsenal
When it comes to the Fantasy Premier League, no one is all knowing since we can’t say for sure how a player would perform we all are just predicting.
