Updates On The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
Last season’s Glo Nigeria Professional Football League runners-up, Enyimba, won Wednesday’s Oriental Derby beating Heartland 2-0 in Aba.
Enyimba got their first goal through Chinonso Okonkwo, who headed home Daniel Etor’s corner kick in the 40th minute. Christian Obiozor doubled Enyimba’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 55th minute.
However, few minutes after Enyimba’s second goal, Bright Ejike’s goal for Heartland was ruled out for offside. Ejike kept pushing for a goal for his side but was unsuccessful throughout the encounter.
In Oghara, 3SC held hosts Bayelsa United to a goalless draw.
The hosts had a goal disallowed in the 15th minute when Lekan Agunloye pounced on a loose ball after 3SC goal keeper handled the ball poorly, but the goal was ruled out for an infringement.
Both teams were evenly-matched for most parts of the match, with Shooting getting the better chances.
Bayelsa’s clearest chance came in the 37th minute when Buhari Jafar got a loose ball from Shooting’s Yinka Adedeji but his effort came off the crossbar.
