It is the end of the road for two unfortunate armed robbers who robbed and terrorized some residents of Lagos as a court has sentenced them to death by hanging.
A Lagos High Court, Ikeja, has sentenced two men to death by hanging for armed robbery. Omoilodan Seun and Gbenga Kayode were sentenced to death by a court presided over by Justice Atinuke Ipaye who found them guilty on a three-count charge of conspiracy, attempted robbery and armed robbery.
According to the lead prosecution counsel, Mr. Akin George, he told the court that the convicts robbed one Alhaji Jinadu of phones and money on November 2, 2011 while they also robbed one Rilwan Gbadamosi and his wife on November 9 of same year.
He said the offence was committed at Ayangburen Road, Ikorodu.
According to the prosecution, the offences are contrary to Section 295 subsection (2) (b) of the Criminal law of Lagos State.
During trial, the convicted persons had pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the prosecution.
The defence counsel, Damola Victor, pleaded with the court to tender justice with mercy on the ground that they were first time offenders. But, Justice Ipaye had other ideas as she sentenced them to death by hanging.
