Goals from Gbolahan Salami and Odion Ighalo ensured the Super Eagles of Nigeria got their AFCON qualifying campaign to a good start by defeating the Chad senior team at the Kaduna pitch.
The Chadian defence made sure the first goal of the match came in the 69th minute after a pretty quite first half before Odion Ighalo added the second goal for Nigeria from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.
The introduction of the Watford striker Ighalo seemed to have given more life to the game because he laid the 1st goal with his first touch and later went on to cause the penalty that led to the 2nd goal which he converted himself.
However, the Super Eagles had to finish the final 10minutes of the match with 10 men after Ogenyi Onazi was sent off just after Nigeria was awarded the penalty kick. Though there was not enough time left for Chad to cause a late upset as the Super Eagles ran out eventual winner
