Chelsea are now set to wrap up the signing of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley by the end of Friday.
Chelsea have retained an interest in Ross Barkley who they came close to landing in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
Barkley pulled out of a move in August after undergoing a medical, with a fee of £35m being agreed between the two clubs at the time
Instead, £15m will be handed over by Chelsea in the hope of getting a transfer over the line before the weekend, and The Telegraph claims that the midfielder yet to play a single minute this term due to injury – is currently in London to finalise personal terms.
Barkley, an Everton academy graduate, has scored 27 goals in 179 appearances since making his debut for the club in August 2011.
He was rewarded with a new four-year deal in July 2014 by then-manager Roberto Martinez after featuring for England at the World Cup in Brazil.
Barkley, capped 22 times by England, has previously expressed a desire to play Champions League football and would be eligible to play for Chelsea in their last-16 clash against Barcelona in February if he completes a move to the club.
